About me... Léah Ferreira, MS, LMFT

My name is Léah Ferreira, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am dual licensed in California (LMFT #128659) and Oregon (LMFT #T2207).

I grew up in sunny Southern California, but I thrive in cool, gray, rainy weather - it energizes me and boosts my productivity.

I got my master’s in marriage and family therapy in 2018. I also just began my PhD adventure. I will be studying psychology with a specialization in LGBTQ+ and Gender Fluidity.

As a queer therapist, I prioritize creating a safe, welcoming space - even virtually. I'm here to support your goals with empathy and compassion, guiding you without judgment. Asking for help takes courage, and I’m proud of you for taking this first step.

I’m a foster care survivor. Though I spent just a year and a half in the system, it was one of the hardest periods of my life. I was forced into counseling that felt unsafe and invalidating - never a space where I could truly open up.

That experience drives my deep empathy for everyone who seeks care.

Thank you for being here. I believe in you - you’re capable of hard things.

I also have 5 cats that will often join us in session. I have four black cats that I fondly call my Voids - Minerva, Severus, Remus, and Filius. Then, the baby is my psycho calico, and her name is Luna.

My Education & Approach

How I got here.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2002 and my Master’s degree in 2004 in Education. I went on to become a teacher for several years but always found that my heart belonged to counseling and that I wanted to be a therapist. Many moons into my teaching career, I realized I needed to return to school. And so I did. In 2018, I graduated from Capella University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am now back in school, aiming for my PhD!

My Approach.

Everyone is unique, and therapy should reflect that. I seek to meet each person where they are and explore what’s holding them back from the life they want. Together, we’ll uncover the barriers to your healing.

I specialize working with women and men who are coping with complex trauma, childhood trauma, and obsessive compulsive behaviors. I meet each person with person with empathy and utilize trauma-informed care.

I also work with couples who are working through the infidelity, communication breakdowns, unmet needs, and other relationship conflict

Many of the people I work with are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. They identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and gender fluid. I often guide couples through issues related to gender identity, ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, BDSM, and kink

I am also comfortable working with you even if you feel you don't fit into any of these groups or categories.

All are welcome in my practice.

My goal is to help you see that you are not your struggles. You have the power to overcome them, and it’s an honor to be along for the ride. With humor, mindfulness, empathy, and active listening, I validate your experiences and celebrate your strengths.
